FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. — An injured manatee was rescued near the Fort Myers Beach area on Wednesday. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), the manatee had a watercraft wound and was 'excessively buoyant'. Crews were able to rescue the manatee, and it was taken to Zoo Tampa for rehabilitation. Eleven manatees died from watercraft injuries in 18 counties throughout Florida, according to an April mortality study from the FWC.
